The mission of the Society is to promote among the medical profession and the community, patients and carers the proper understanding of bipolar affective disorder (BAD) and its management via appropriate education, scientific research and collaboration with local and international professional bodies. Since the foundation of the Society, we have organized a lot of educational forums as well as clinical researches.

To promote research in bipolar affective disorder, the Society has set up the Young Investigator Award as a recognition of the distinguished work of young investigators in the field. The eligibility criteria for application are as follows:

  1. The research must be in the field of bipolar affective disorder;
  2. The applicant is below 40 years old at the time of submission;
  3. The applicant must be the principle investigator in the research;
  4. The research should have completed not more than four years before the date of submission;
  5. If the research has already been published in a journal, the applicant must be one of the first three authors in the list of authors.

The deadline of submission will be 31 May 2013. The paper submitted will be reviewed by both local reviewers and renounced international advisors of the Society. The SABAD has the final decision on whether to give the award to a particular paper. Appeal to the decision of the SABAD will not be entertained.

The successful applicant will be awarded HK$20,000 as a token and an award certificate, and may also be invited to present the paper in a meeting organized by the Society. Please be noted that this monetary award must be used for academic purposes within 2 years after getting the prize. The award of 2013 is generously donated by AstraZeneca Hong Kong Limited.
